THE RACES OF EONOS

Below is a list of and descriptions for each of the sentient races that occur most frequently on the world of Eonos. Culture and descriptions of the phisyque of each race are included, as well as any important notes that may need to be appended.

THE SHA'VAHARA ( The People )

By far the eldist of all races, the Sha'Vahara are the only race which claims roots from before the Deathwood Time. They average five spans in heigth, and around sixty-five stones in weight, making them fairly tall and thin. Skin color ranges from pale white to a dark tan, depending on whether they are from the desert or the forest, respectfully, and hair color is usually dependant on where the particular Sha'Vaharan lives most of the time, changing to suit his or her environment. They have ears that are usually one quarter of a span long and tilt back at forty-five degree angles. Sha'Varhara usually live in large cities, with the exception of Sha'Vaharan rangers, who take on the occupational hazards of living alone among the wildlife. Sha'Vahara are a long lived race, so long lived that there has never been a recorded case of one dying from old age. This aspect makes thema most patient and yeilding race, prone to thinking long and hard on something before making a decision. Being the eldest and most knowledgable of races, they teach young elves the basics of using the ancient technologies of the Eldar Time. They generally view most other races with contempt, as lesser beings, with the exception of the Ulithin, which the regard more as misguided children.

NOTES:

Sha'Havara Sub-Races

The Sha'Havaran peoples can easily be grouped into a limited number of castes that are greatly different from each of the others. The name Sha'Havara usualy applies only to the most common of castes, the ones that are seen in most of the cities. The two other major sub-races are the Dria'dran, who can be classified as rouges in general, but in reality are a caste who believes that all the other races besides Sha'Havara are abberations and freaks who should be killed or enslaved. Dria'dran have great cities of their own, most underground or otherwise well hidden. They can be distinguished from other elves because of their pale complexions and ears that tilt back further than the common Sha'Havara. The third caste is the Grivind'livirin, who call themselves The Warders, and who live in the forest. They are generaly nature lovers and forsake almost all technology, but they also carry a code of honor that makes them the most trustworthy of any peoples anywhere. They can be distinguished from common Sha'Havara from their shorter stature, about a span less, and longer ears, which can measure one third of a span and usualy droop outward at the ends.

THE GULFIN ( The Miners )

Short but never to be underestimated, the Gulfin are a stout and strong people. They favor living in caves, but not the disorganized shelters of primitives. Gulfin average three spans in height, and sixty-five stones in weight, and have ears that come to slight points. Gulfin skin tones can ranges from a medium tan to an ebony black, and hair from a dark brown to a burning red to a golden blonde. Gulfin are perfect miners, with their short stature, incredible strength and naturally good eyes for masonry, and they build huge cities, kingdoms and great pasages and underground roads. Gulfin cities are as large or larger than those built by either the Uthilin or the Sha'Havara, and are grandly decorated. Gulfin have a natural talent for finding precious stones, a talent which can sometimes be extended to plants, which makes the Gulfin great alchemists, and commonly alchemist's assistants. Gulfin have a great amount of strength for their size, which gives them an advantage over others in combat, but that advantage is usualy made up for by the added agility of the oponent. Gulfin make a point of not having any pre-concieved stereotypes about any races, save the Dria'dran caste of the Sha'Havara, and are almostalways willing to give any good soul a fair shake.

NOTES:

The Gulfin and The Borthin

Little is known as to why, but the Gulfin seem to have worked out some strange deal with the Borthin, the large, mountain dwelling trolls. Borthin can often be spotted doing brute labor for Gulfin, or fighting off some danger that would threaten a Gulfin cave, and there is always an uncanny amount of respect in the air between the two races. It is not understood what the Gulfin do for the Borthin, but it is reasonable to say that the Borthin do have the ability to walk through the Gulfin tunels without ever paying the usualy stiff tolls levied for safe and quick passage.
